The shooting was on December 15, 2022 around 3 p.m. During the Christmas holiday shopping rush thousands of people were at the mall buying gifts.
A fight began between Xavior and another person inside the mall. During the fight Xavior is accused of shooting the other person several times. A second person was also shot, but they was an innocent bystander. It is unclear what the roles of Jadah and the teenage suspect were.

Crowds of people then ran for cover as the shots rang out. Some people were trampled, while others hid in stores and in the food court. The mall went on lock down.

An on duty Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer assigned to the mall was able to locate the suspect and deescalate the situation to take the suspect into custody without further incident. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
The mall was closed for the remainder of the day. The 2 victims had life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Xavior was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault with deadly weapon, Jadah was charged with assault, and the 17 year-old juvenile was charged with assault.
