On Sunday August 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2021 at 2:27 a.m., officers responded to a serious injury crash involving a vehicle striking a tree and catching on fire. 4 people were in the vehicle. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.charlottealertsnews.com\/.image\/c_fit,h_600,w_600\/MTgyODkwNTczNDYyNTEyOTky\/1untitkled.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.charlottealertsnews.com\/news\/2-dead-after-car-catches-fire-in-night-wreck\">The driver of a Mercedes Benz car was traveling at a high rate of speed. The Benz lost control and struck the curb. It then exited the curve and ran off the road. The car then struck a set of brick steps and then a tree before catching on fire.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Officers located a severely damaged and burning Mercedes Benz and its four injured occupants. Henry Melvin and Robert Walker were pronounced deceased on scene by medic. <\/p>\n<p>The other 2 passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. <\/p>\n<p>Excessive speed appears to be a factor for the driver. Impairment test results are pending. There were no known witnesses to the crash.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Robert loved automobiles.
