There was a shooting at the Oakbrook Center mall in Chicago on December 23, 2021. The mall is closed as this is an active investigation. The mall erupted in gunfire after a single shooter began firing shots inside the mall around 6 p.m. Central time.<\/p>\n
The mall was very crowded due to Christmas holiday shoppers buying last minute items. Customers and mall employees began running in hysteria from the gunfire. <\/p>\n
4 people were shot during the shooting. Several other people were injured while running for cover and exits. <\/p>\n
The shooter was eventually apprehended. The mall quickly went on lockdown.<\/p>\n
Mall management issued a statement saying: <\/p>\n
\n\u201cTonight\u2019s isolated incident is extremely upsetting for our shopping community. We are grateful for our partners at the Oak Brook Police Department for their diligence in leading this developing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
