Inmate Quay Davis, 29, was accidentally released from the Mecklenburg County Jail on 801 East 4th Street Charlotte, NC.<\/p>\n

Jail officials are now investigating Quay’s erroneous release. <\/p>\n

Quay was transported to the jail on April 12, 2022 from another jail on a writ hold and immediately appeared in court. <\/p>\n

Quay was then served with a warrant from Pasquotank County for possession of weapon by a prisoner and received a $75,000 secured bond. <\/p>\n

Quay’s court information was entered incorrectly without the writ hold added. Subsequently, he was erroneously released on May 9, 2022, at 10:54 a.m., due to the possession of weapon charge being voluntarily dismissed. The jail was notified about the error on May 13, 2022.<\/p>\n

Many problems have plagued the jail under sheriff Gary Mcfadden’s leadership. <\/p>\n

A jail guard identified as Kyle Harris, 28, was accused of sexually assaulting a male inmate identified as 21-year-old Haleem Gilliland inside the jail, the guard was fired.<\/a><\/p>\n

The state of North Carolina ruled that there is an imminent threat to safety of inmates and staff at the jail in Charlotte.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bugs were crawling on walls in the kitchen at the Mecklenburg County Jail.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mecklenburg County Jail Detention Officer Darryl Shavers was arrested on felony assault charges stemming from a fight with an inmate. <\/a><\/p>\n

55-year-old inmate Emerson Healy died at the Mecklenburg County Jail.<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A female jail guard was stabbed by an inmate.<\/a> <\/p>\n

A jail guard was cut in the head by an inmate.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Derrick Geter, 33, died at the Mecklenburg County Jail on May 5, 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n

Francine Laney died on March 2, 2022 at the Mecklenburg County Jail.<\/a><\/p>\n
