Reginald was visiting Charlotte from New York. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.charlottealertsnews.com\/.image\/c_fit,h_600,w_600\/MTkyNzczMDc5MjY3NTUxMDYz\/1untitkled.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.charlottealertsnews.com\/news\/suspect-charged-in-murder-of-man-at-apartments-near-independence-blvd\">Over Thanksgiving weekend in 2019, Reginald was outside with others in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Charlotte, NC.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Carlton who lived at the complex, came outside and approached the group. An argument ensued. Carlton fatally shot Reginald and then fired at Reginald\u2019s child but missed. <\/p>\n<p>At trial, Carlton claimed he acted in self defense. <\/p>\n<p> The Mecklenburg County District Attorney\u2019s Homicide Team tried Carlton for first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. <\/p>\n<p>The jury found him guilty of the lesser included offense of voluntary manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
