The victim was on the train tracks via foot when the Amtrak train hit the pedestrian and ran them over. <\/p>\n<p>The train tried to stop, but was unable to do so prior to the deadly collision. The victim died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Amtrak released this statement concerning the collision:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cToday, Amtrak train #80 was traveling from Charlotte to New York, at approximately 6:52 a.m., when it came into contact with a person trespassing on the track. There have been no reported injuries to the 87 passengers or crew onboard.
