On Sunday, August 26, 2018, at 4:29 a.m., Rashad Waller, 28, (Seen here) was killed in a bad car accident.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to an injury crash in the 3700 block of The Plaza near Sweetbriar Street. Upon arrival officers located a vehicle that was overturned and on fire.<\/p>\n
Rashad was the driver, he was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the roadway. CFD and MEDIC also responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
MEDIC transported Rashad to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Two passengers from the vehicle were transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling eastbound on The Plaza and crossed the center line into the oncoming lanes as it exited the curve. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then overturned as it reentered the road.<\/p>\n
At this time the investigation is still ongoing and it is unknown if alcohol is a contributing factor. It is believed that speed is a contributing factor.<\/p>\n
According to witness and passenger statements, it is likely a separate vehicle struck Rashad after he was ejected from the Chevrolet Impala.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
