Todd Houston, 30, got in a skirmish with the police SWAT team today because he didn’t want to go back to jail for being a convicted felon in possession of a gun.<\/p>\n
Felons automatically go to jail when they posses a firearm. The standoff lasted for hours until the late afternoon. Todd really got caught up in the TRAP.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 9 in the morning detectives from the Targeted Response and Apprehension (TRAP) Unit located Todd at an apartment complex in south Charlotte and were attempting to serve 32 felony arrest warrants on him.<\/p>\n
Before detectives could apprehend him, Todd fled in a stolen vehicle. The Helicopter Unit followed Todd until he pulled into an apartment complex on Krefeld Glen Drive.<\/p>\n
Todd exited the stolen vehicle, and the Helicopter Unit directed TRAP detectives to Todd\u2019s location. TRAP detectives located Todd in a stairway armed with a handgun.<\/p>\n
TRAP detectives set up a perimeter and began securing the scene. Residents were relocated as a precaution, and the members of the SWAT Team and Negotiators were notified and responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
After a standoff with SWAT and speaking with Negotiators, Todd surrendered and was taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Todd, who is a convicted felon, was found in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number at the time of his arrest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
