In the morning before 8 a.m. a pod officer ordered all inmates to lock down, but Dequan allegedly refused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pod officer called for assistance, a sergeant and two other detention officers responded. The inmate was asked again to lock down, but he refused. The inmate was threatened to be sent to the Disciplinary Detention Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dequan then removed his hands from his pants allegedly holding a sharp object, he then lunged toward the officers and a struggle ensued. A guard was cut in the head and was not cleared to return to work after the encounter. The sergeant suffered a wrist injury while trying to remove the object from Dequan&#8217;s hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other officers and sergeant were eventually able to subdue Dequan and handcuff him. Dequan was taken to the Disciplinary Detention Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All jail guards involved in the incident received medical treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jail is dangerous and full of criminals.
