Officer William F. Evans was killed in the line of duty at the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 2021. A male suspect rammed a vehicle into two U.S. Capitol officers. Both officers were injured, however, Officer Evans eventually died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just after 1 p.m. a man driving a blue sedan rammed his vehicle into a security barricade at the U.S. Capitol, striking 2 capitol police officers, one of the officers was identified as Officer Evans. The U.S. Capitol was immediately placed on lock down. The man exited the vehicle with a knife and ran towards officers. A officer drew their duty weapon and fired at the suspect, fatally hitting him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect however didn’t die on scene, paramedics transported the suspect to the hospital and he died from his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both officers that were hit by the suspect’s car were transported by paramedics to the hospital. One officer is being treated at the hospital. Officer Evans later died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officer Evans had been a member of the United States Capitol Police for 18 years. He began his USCP service on March 7, 2003, and was a member of the Capitol Division\u2019s First Responder\u2019s Unit.
